Batumi Botanical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in the world, a unique place where the rarest and most beautiful representatives of the fauna are gathered. It was founded in 1880 by the Russian scientist Andrei Krasnov, and for visitors for the first time was opened in 1912. Today in the garden on the area of ​​110 hectares are located more than 5 thousand species of plants. Batumi Garden was created according to the principle of the legendary gardens of the Semiramis and descends from the top of the mountains to the Black Sea. At the very top is the zone of plants of the Himalayas (pines, cypresses, rhododendrons, barberry), at the foot – Mediterranean flora (palms, oleanders, beeches, laurels). Between them are the New Zealand, Australian, North American departments, as well as the Japanese Garden, the Mexican Hill, the Subtropical Division of Transcaucasia.
