The architect of the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet of Yerevan is Alexander Tamanyan. Construction of the building began in 1926. He had to be built a hall for 1200 spectators, had a concert hall, classrooms, a library, exhibition halls, rooms for group lessons, buffet.
Construction of closed hall was completed in 1939.
The first performance of the opera was Alexander Spendiaryan’s “Almast”, which premiered on January 20, 1933.
