Fortress Narikala or Unapproachable – “the soul and heart of Tbilisi”, the most famous and ancient monument of antiquity. It rises on the crest of Mtatsminda Mountain, from where a magnificent view of the city opens. The emergence of this stronghold is attributed to the IV. AD In the XIX century, the lower bastions of the fortress were demolished, and the earthquake of 1827 destroyed the fortress, which has not been restored since.
